Samir Kashyap, DO, was born and raised in Kansas. He has grown fond of Fresno as it reminds him a lot of home. The youngest of three, he is the first in his family to be born and raised in the US. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas and medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine. Before residency, he completed a pre-residency fellowship in neurosurgery and neurocritical care at the University of New Mexico. During his time there, he developed a passion for cerebrovascular disorders and stroke care. He was inspired by the landmark trials establishing thrombectomy as the new standard in stroke care. Seeing the remarkable outcomes for patients inspired him to pursue his specialization in cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Riverside University Health System in Southern California and gained broad experience in general neurosurgery and trauma neurosurgery while training in California’s busiest Level I trauma centers. He completed his fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.
His patient care philosophy is centered on respect and education. He wants to ensure patients and their families understand these difficult and often debilitating conditions so they can make the most informed decisions. The people in the Central Valley have lacked access to high-quality cerebrovascular and stroke care close to home, and Dr. Kashyap is excited to have joined CNI to bring this much-needed service to the community.
In his free time, he enjoys watching sports, particularly the Chiefs, Royals and Jayhawks. He and his wife enjoy exploring the local food scene. They also enjoy spending time with their dog and exploring the incredible natural landscape of the Central Valley.
