Salem EI-Zuway, M.D., FRCSC, FAANS, FACS, is a board-certified neurosurgeon by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He received his medical degree from the University of Benghazi in Libya. He went on to complete his neurosurgery residency and neuro-spine fellowship at McMaster University in Canada, followed by an additional year of fellowship in complex spine/trauma at Sunnybrook Hospital at the University of Toronto. Dr. El-Zuway completed an additional three-year term of clinical training in neurotrauma, open cerebrovascular surgery and skull based surgery. Before joining Community Neurosciences Institute, Dr. El-Zuway served as a clinical assistant professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He currently serves as a clinical assistant professor at the California Health Sciences University.

Dr. El-Zuway has a wide scope in neurosurgery training managing complex cranial and spinal conditions. He is also involved in clinical research with an interest focused in cranial neurotrauma and spine focusing on cervical spondylotic myelopathy (CSM). His interests include advancement of medical education and medical student teaching programs including problem-based medicine.

Dr. EI-Zuway is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada.

Outside of work, Dr. EI-Zuway is a dedicated husband and a father of 3 lovely children filling the rest of the nonprofessional part of his life. Dr. EI-Zuway enjoys playing the piano, jogging, bicycling and painting.
