Eric S. Farbman, MD, grew up in the northeastern United States. He attended medical school at UMDNJ—Newark and completed his neurology residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He stayed at the University of Pittsburgh to complete a fellowship in movement disorders. Afterward, he moved to Las Vegas and started the movement disorders program at the University of Nevada. While there, he was a member of the Parkinson's Study Group (PSG) and the Huntington's Study Group (HSG), academic consortiums dedicated to finding cures for these neurodegenerative diseases.
In addition to seeing patients, Dr. Farbman has also been active in clinical research trials. He has taught medical students and residents and served as the medical director of the Friends of Parkinson's, a non-profit organization designed to serve those impacted by the disease. Dr. Farbman has published various articles about different movement disorders and has presented at local, national and international conferences.
Dr. Farbman is a fellow of the American Academy of Neurology and a member of the Movement Disorders Society. He is board-certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. His clinical interests include a variety of movement disorders, including Parkinson's disease, Huntington's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, restless legs syndrome and ataxia. He has two decades of experience with deep brain stimulation surgery patients. In his spare time, he enjoys playing poker and board games. He is active in the Boy Scouts of America and has an extensive collection of medical memorabilia.
